How to Become a Leader and Get a Life
And I have to tell you, it's really beginning to rub off on me.
If you want to read a book that very plainly just speaks the truth, without worrying about political correctness, the this is absolutely the book for you.
The world is full of people who are quick to complain about their circumstances and their lot in life.
They are quick to blame everything and everybody around them for the results they are getting (or not getting), but never willing to take responsibility for themselves.
It's sad because the world clearly has more than enough victims and so what it sorely needs is more leaders.
Furthermore, the step to taking personal responsibility and beginning to lead yourself is not particularly difficult.
However, it does require commitment.
To become the leader in your own life requires a strong commitment to yourself and a genuine willingness to change.
As Larry points out in his book, it's the willingness (or lack thereof), where most people fall short.
You have the ability to change your life for the better.
You may even have the desire to change your life for the better.
But neither of those things is going to enable you to change your life for the better if you are unwilling to change.
So here's the really important question for you to ask yourself: "Am I willing to change?" Are you really willing to buckle down and do what it takes consistently, day by day, in order to create the change you want in your life? The good news is that, assuming your answer is "yes", there are tools that can help you.
Larry's book, "Shut Up, Stop Whining, and Get a Life: A Kick-Butt Approach to a Better Life" is a great place to start.
It's a great reminder and it's written in a no pussy-footing around style which is very refreshing and effective.
Secondly, go out and do an Internet search for some related resources.
Search using terms such as "personal leadership plan" or "personal growth programs" or "personal growth books" and you will discover a ranges of very helpful resources that can help you establish your own daily recipe for getting a life -- that is to say, the life you really want.
There are many wonderful teachers who can help to transform your life in a profound way, if you simply open yourself up to them.
It's so easy to whine and complain about your life.
It's the rare individual who is prepared to take personal responsibility and begin to lead him or herself to a new life.
It's the rare individual who is willing to step out from the crowd.
So which are you? Are you willing to step out and change your results? If you are, then do something -- take one action step right now today that moves you in the direction you'd like to go.
And then take another step again tomorrow, and so on, and so on.
